Lumex Tide Grid
A peaceful picnic setting beneath cherry blossom trees in Tokyo

Lumex Tide Grid · Picnic Gathering · 2 hours

Settle in beneath the blossoms — everything else is taken care of

A reserved spot in the park, a seasonal lunch box crafted with care, warm tea, and a host who understands what it means to gather beneath the sakura. Two hours of spring with nothing to arrange.

What This Offers

The ease of being somewhere beautiful, without any effort

Hanami — the Japanese tradition of gathering beneath the cherry blossoms — has always been about the pleasure of being together in the right place at the right moment. The Blossom Picnic Gathering honours that idea by removing the obstacles: no searching for a spot, no queuing, no planning what to bring.

You arrive and find it ready. The rest is simply spring.

What Brings You Here

There is a version of hanami that involves quite a lot of work

Cherry blossom season in Tokyo is one of the year's most anticipated moments — and also one of the most crowded. The parks fill early. Popular spots are claimed by mid-morning. Arriving with a picnic blanket, a lunch box, and the right refreshments requires planning, local knowledge, and an early start.

For many visitors, and for some Tokyo residents too, the logistics get in the way of the occasion. The season passes with the feeling that it was witnessed from a distance rather than truly experienced.

The Blossom Picnic Gathering is for those who would prefer not to spend the morning arranging things — who would like to arrive and find the day already set.

Our Approach

Thoughtfully arranged, quietly hosted, entirely yours to enjoy

A spot reserved for you

We choose a calm location under the trees ahead of your arrival — away from the busiest areas, with a good view of the blossoms and enough space to feel settled.

Seasonal lunch box and tea

A thoughtfully prepared lunch box with seasonal ingredients, alongside warm tea. Chosen and arranged so that what you eat reflects the time of year.

A host to share the spirit

A Lumex Tide Grid host joins your gathering — not to guide or lecture, but to share the mood, answer questions, and help the occasion feel what it should: gathered, easy, spring.

What to Expect

Two hours that ask nothing of you except to be present

1

Arrival at the park

Your host meets you at the entrance to Ueno Koen and walks you to your reserved spot. The picnic is already laid out. You arrive to something ready, not something in progress.

2

Settling in beneath the blossoms

The first part of the gathering is simply time — to look up at the trees, to drink tea, to find your pace. Your host is present but unobtrusive, there when conversation is welcome and quiet otherwise.

3

Lunch and the season

The seasonal lunch box is shared at whatever pace suits the gathering. Your host may talk a little about what you are eating and how it connects to the season — lightly, without formality.

4

A gentle close

After roughly two hours, the gathering winds down naturally. You are welcome to stay in the park. Your host will clear the spot and can suggest other corners of the park worth exploring in the afternoon.

How We Work

Prepared carefully, so the occasion can simply be itself

The lunch box served at the Blossom Picnic Gathering is chosen each spring to reflect what is available, what is seasonal, and what suits the mood of eating outdoors beneath flowering trees. It is not elaborate — it is considered. The intention is that the food adds to the occasion rather than distracting from it.

The spot we reserve is scouted each morning before gatherings begin. We look for shade and openness in the right proportion, distance from the noisiest areas of the park, and a clear view of the blossoms overhead. The same care applies to the timing — we schedule gatherings when the park has found a rhythm and the light is good.

Our hosts are selected for the same quality as our walking guides: knowledge worn lightly, ease with different kinds of company, and a genuine feeling for what the season means to those who come here for it.

Our Commitment

We want you to leave having had a genuinely good spring morning

Blossom timing

If bloom has not yet arrived at your scheduled date, we will work with you on timing so that the experience is as intended. Cherry blossom season is unpredictable — we plan accordingly.

Dietary needs

Let us know your requirements when you book and we will do our best to accommodate them thoughtfully within the seasonal selection available.

Weather

In the case of heavy rain, we will be in touch to discuss rescheduling. Light spring rain often adds its own particular mood to an outdoor gathering — something to consider rather than avoid.

Ask us first

There is no obligation in reaching out with questions. We are glad to help you decide whether this gathering suits what you are hoping for before you commit to anything.
